Dressing Your Children For The Season

There is nothing more heartwrenching as a childcare provider than watching a child freeze outside because they do not have the apporpriate coat for a cold day. It is also just as difficult to watch a child get over heated simply because they are wearing something to warm for a hot day. Just like us, children need to be dressed appropriately for whatever the weather; therefore, you need to make sure that when your child leaves the house they are wearing something that is appopriate.

When you are not sure what the weather will be like on any given day, it is best that you dress your child in layers. There are several news stations that do morning updates. It is really quite easy to check in with the station and make sure that you and your child are dressed the same way. With technology, there are several ways that you can ensure that you recieve a morning update about the weather. Bookmark a weather station on your phone, have a weather station placed on your computer everyday.

Many parents forget that their children get warm and cool just like they do because children are so resillent. However, they are subjec to the same weather related concerns that we are. Dress them in layers so that they can remove the layers if they get warm or add them if they get colder.

The way to do this is to start with a tshirt. Layer on a light sweater and finish with a jacket. If the weather looks like it is going to rain or snow put them in appropriate shoes
