Color is used all around us to make us feel a particular way. This can help when wanting to evoke a romantic atmosphere. Clothing in a few particular colors can give anyone a more romanticized look. Read about the amorous colors in the following paragraphs.

Image via Wikipedia

White

This color signifies purity and is often used in bridal gowns. This neutral color comes in variations that match all skin tones; look for crisp white, off –white and winter white colors. The right clothing piece or accessory can give anyone the look of purity that is reflected in many romanticized stories.

Pink

Pink is the color of valentines, roses and innocence. This color is used often on products that exude a feeling of affection about something or someone. A soft pink blouse or sweater instantly projects warm feelings. This may explain the large assortment of products offered to women that hold this color.

Yellow

The color of the sun and daisies is a romantic color that radiates youth and vitality. Yellow used an accessory brings a fresh take on the standard romantic color wheel. The concept of youth directly relates to the essence of being innocent. A class romantic notion is that the two (youth and innocence) appear simultaneously.

Lavender

Lavender is a color that is part of the purple grouping. A true purple hue is a bit too harsh, but lavender provides a light and innocent feeling. This feminine color is found naturally in flowers, which adds to the dreamy reaction. This non-traditional color of love is found in various accessories and clothing.

Gauging whether you can afford a particular auto is best left up to you. It’s not the place to be swayed by a car salesman with his own interests at heart. Figuring out whether you can afford a car or not is probably a moot point. Most people can’t afford not to own a vehicle. With America designed around the automobile, it’s the most efficient way to bring home the groceries, get back and forth to work, and conduct the business of life.

So, you probably can’t afford to be without the most basic transportation model. Whether to include all the accessories available on the contemporary vehicle is another question altogether. If you’re not sure what you can afford without a car refinance, take a long look at your true needs. Is it completely necessary to have fully motorized seat controls? They’re handy, but you probably still move your kitchen chairs around by hand. Same with the rear view mirrors – those electric motors that make them easier to adjust simply cost a lot more than the hand-adjustable types.

If you’re on the fence about what you can afford in the vehicular realm, approach the car buying process with the same minimalism in mind that you use to decorate your house in the present minimalist style. You can always have fun explaining the tie between the two ideas to anyone who questions your ability to buy a shiny new car. You don’t even have to explain that you saved a bundle on the purchase price by scrimping on the unnecessary accessories. They probably won’t even notice!

Everyone has heard of the basic colors that should be worn at work – the power colors. The new buzz is that some new bold hues are making their way to the boardroom, government offices and courtrooms. This selection will supply a combined class of work colors.

Image via Wikipedia

Black

This color is one of the signature looks for anyone that has a desk or cubicle. The popularity of this color is not because it appears to slim the wearer, but because they feel more empowered when wearing it. This color is synonymous with prestige and wealth.

Red

This intense color stands out and anyone who wears it must be confident. A tie, pair of shoes or other accessory is just the right amount of this hue; too much exposure leads to others feeling confrontational or insecure. A little goes a long way for this power color.

Purple

This color of power and wealth has become more common in the business world. Purple worn the right way can evoke an air of sophistication that is not overt. This new bold color is less intimidating as red.

Brown

This old-standby color symbolizes stability, which is useful in the working world. One reason for the attraction to brown is because it is easily found in nature. Brown is a safe color that can be matched with brighter hues. This color can be used to tame a wild pattern.

The colors above are a modern take on work attire. Styles change often which reflects the new crop of colors making their way to the ‘power’ category.

If you have shopped anywhere within the last few decades, then you have noticed the amount of blue clothing items, accessories and everything else. This leads to the question why multiple blue hues are such a sought out color. The information below will provide some information to answer that question.

Patriotic

Blue is included on the American flag and those of others countries. A positive way to show approval of someone or something is wear the colors that support them. Worn by itself or with red and white, blue stands for democracy – The United States.

Security

The color blue represents security, which ties into the patriotic reasoning. The color blue has been a staple in all versions of the American flag that adds to feeling of being secure. Many state flags have the color blue represented in them.

Calmness

The items found in nature that have a bluish hue, aide in the popularity of this color. The sky and clear waters are relaxing elements that symbolize the tranquility of blue. Blue Jays that fly in air aide in this concept of calmness.

Gender Roles

Blue is often used to represent men or young boys. The color provides an intense identification without being flashy or overbearing. Females may wear the color to step outside of the soft feminine colors but still represent peacefulness.

Summation

The above are a few answers as to why the color blue is so popular. There are other more complex reasons but that does not help with picking out clothes. The most important motive is that the purchaser likes the color for whatever the reason.

Are you getting your wardrobe ready for this spring or summer, or even the fall, it is important to know what is in and what is not. Even if you do not follow all of the fashion trends, there are probably a few ways you can improve your look so that you look and feel great. Take a look at a few tips to help you to get the look you want.

Style Tips

These style tips can work for anyone. Think about the way they can work in your wardrobe this year.

Buy clothing you love. First and foremost, this is important. It allows you to feel confident in who you are.

For children and teens, choose clothing that is appropriate for their age, but allows them to express who they are and what their personality is like.

When it comes to patterns, do not mix and match. However, patterns are not out of the realm of choices to wear. The right pattern adds interest to the wardrobe.

Seasonal style choices can be expensive to follow. Rather than spending too much money on clothing options that you will replace the next season, focus on layering your clothing.

Remember to accessorize. This is perhaps the biggest mistake that people make and the easiest one to fix. The right accessories can help you to pull off any look you are hoping to create.

No matter if you are elderly or if you are a teen, looking great is more than just being fashionable. It can help to boost your self esteem and help you to conquer the world in a way that works for you specifically.

B.I.G was not only famous for his music, but also famous for making the Coogi clothes line famous. His introduction of the line in 1990 helped skyrocket the brand into the world of mad trends and hip-hop. In his platinum single, One More Chance, he uses the line, I stay Coogi down to the socks, which slowly started an ensuing buying frenzy among B.I.G.’s fans and hiphop lovers everywhere.

Notorious B.I.G. was a Trend Setter

Shopping for an engagement ring can be a very stressful experience. By shopping for a ring online, you can avoid a lot of the hassle of trying to negotiate with a sales person and trying to find the best deals.

The first thing you need to do when shopping for engagement rings online is determining the type of ring you want to get. Maybe your girlfriend has given you hints on the types of stones she likes. If she has not, go by what her style is (the type of clothes she wears, how she decorates her house, etc.). Pick a ring that matches her style.

The next thing you need to do is find out what her ring size is. Ask her friends and family instead of asking her; you do not want to give anything away. You can also find a ring of hers that you know already fits her and trace it.

Before you buy any engagement ring, you will want to do some research on diamonds. You will need to understand the color, cut, clarity, and carat weight. After you have done some research, you can then decide the size of the stone.

After you have everything figured out, go online and find the perfect ring. When buying online, you can usually avoid sales tax, so you can save more money. If you live with your girlfriend, you may want to consider having the ring shipped to your work address to avoid her finding out.

Just because you have more experience at life does not mean that you can’t be fashion forward. For those who are getting older, the fashionable clothing options are often either too expensive or too limited to choose from. You can find clothing that is both comfortable and great looking without having to step too far out of the spotlight.

Tips for Fashion Success

Seniors who want to dress with more class and style can do so. The key is to know where to look to find the best looks.

Choose clothing that fits your personality. The rules of what you can and cannot wear are only the ones you set. Be creative and choose clothing that can be fun, interesting or just represents who you are.

Shop around more. If you are tired of the same old thing, expand your search to clothing that offers new styles you have yet to try. Consider shopping online at websites such as Amazon.com. You have more options to choose from when you shop online.

Avoid the fads. Seniors do not need to pay attention to what is in and what is not. Rather, allow your own judgment to help you to make decisions. Senior fashion tips can help you to choose clothing that will fit your body and needs better.

For seniors, there are more options available than you may think. You can shop the top fashions or keep the costs low. You may even want to spend more time out with friends, enjoying your new looks. Have fun trying on new things and choosing items that make you feel great about yourself and about your body, life and goals.

Image via Wikipedia

Parents often go head to head with their teens, especially girls who want to dress in clothing that is more provocative than you would like. From flashy colors and prints to over the top looks, there is no doubt that parents and teen fashion do not always mix. How can you create a cohesive living environment where your teen does not hate your decisions?

Making It Work

Take a look at the range of options you have for creating an environment where you all can get along, even when it comes to clothing choices.

Understand your child’s viewpoint. Improving communication with your teen is important. Learn how to get your point across without yelling, fighting or being condescending and chances are they will listen.

Ask your child to listen to your viewpoints, too. Asking permission for their attention may seem strange, but it can allow you to communicate what your reasons are for saying no to that less than perfect outfit.

Allow them to express themselves in a way that keeps them safe. While you do not want them to wear anything too provocative, you do want them to be creative. It allows the teen to express themselves in a way that is safe. Find a middle ground that you can both work with.

Once the rules are in place, stick to them. Everyone involved should understand what is allowable and what is not, and how to get questions answered before a fight starts. Teenage fashion does not have to be something parents worry about, if they talk with their teen about it before the questions begin to come up. Find a way to communicate.

When it comes to fashion, it can be pretty difficult to find someone who doesn’t like sporting the latest in clothing or accessory fashions. What can be even more confounding is finding the items that fit your own sense of style. No matter the age group, there is something out there for everyone. Many clothing brands cater to the younger crowds, but with a little research you’ll find something for everyone and in a variety of colors, patterns, and materials.

Regardless of age, Rocawear clothes offer something for just about everyone. From shorts, jeans and long sleeve shirts for men and jumpers and skirts for girls to intimate apparel and fashionable sandals for women, not to mention the wide array of footwear for both sexes, you’d be hard pressed to search through the website and not find something that appeals to your own unique sense of fashion. Professional, sporty, casual, or funky, it’s all there waiting for you.

Rocawear Clothing was founded in 1999 by rapper Jay-Z and Damon Dash. They founded the company with a vision of creating clothing that was a mirrored image of their own fashion styles. It became immensely popular upon inception and has continued to grow in popularity ever since. The brand is known for its famous faces, and has not only grown with kids, teens, and young adults, but is also extremely popular with the older crowd. Because of the comfortable style of the numerous loungewear options that Rocawear offers, the middle-age and older crowds have taken to the clothing brand as well for not only comfort, but style as well.

Skinny jeans, boot cut jeans, flares, acid washed denim. All find their way into our closets at one point or another. This versatile garment takes us to work, school and home. What is not to like?

The latest trend in cut is the skinny jean. Adopted by the hipsters, now anyone who is stick-thin is wearing them. A flash-back to the grunge styles of the early 90′s, this cut seems to be sticking around for a while. Be forewarned – not everyone can get away with wearing these jeans as they will reveal every last bulge.

Fashion is all about extremes, meaning that the next trend in jeans will be a wide leg. Although the boot cut and flare was popular for a long time, chances are that the cut will start wide at the top of the thigh and stay wide down to the ankle. Although the resurgence of the 1970′s in fashion will most likely give us a re-do of the wide legged flare and bell bottoms. Time to break out the platform shoes and the disco balls!

There are those who follow the crowd, and there are those who prefer to break away. Fortunately for the break-aways, they will always be able to find a cut of jean to satisfy them. It used to be that there was almost no choice for those who did not want to wear the latest fashions, so the wearer got stuck. Nowadays there are so many companies and clothing stores selling jeans. It provides a wide variety for the customer so no one gets stuck anymore.

Are other people always complimenting you on your sense of style and fashion? If so, you could be the perfect candidate for the fashion style business. The fashion business is exciting, challenging, and is always looking for creative people with an eye for what sells, and what will sell in the future.

If you believe you already have what it takes, or you want to learn what it takes to become a fashion stylist, you should look into taking accredited online degrees in the fashion industry. If you are creative and possess the desire to work with people, you can also choose a career in the merchandising or advertising ends of the fashion business. If you are good with people, working as a retail fashion supervisor may be just the right position.

The options are endless in the fashion design world. You may choose to work in general areas such as men’s fashions, or women and children’s or in specific areas such as designs for teens. The graphic design field is the latest trend in avant-garde fashion designing.

Along with courses or degrees in fashion styling and design, taking a course in accounting, marketing, or online marketing will help you to remain current in the world of electronic shopping. Fashion stylists are not limited to the clothing industry.

You may decide to branch out into home design, or the interior decorating field. Some courses in fashion design are also essential for a successful career in home fashion design. The history of fashion trends proves that there will always be a demand for fashion stylists because their creativity and imagination knows no bounds.

Mothers and grandmothers will remember playing with paper doll cutouts. For some, these were the alternative to the expensive Barbie dolls, clothing, and accessories of the time. For others, it was a fun way to play dress up using separates to make outfits by interchanging cut out clothing.

The diversity in looks today, gives big girls the chance to play cutouts with their wardrobe for the perfect mash-ups. There are an infinite number of ways to swap items of clothing to create outfits for different times and special occasions.

For Business

In the 1960′s, women everywhere were returning to work as part of their newly found freedom in the women’s liberation movement. However, many women dressed in their Sunday best in order to ensure that they competed with men, to look like they were serious about doing business.

Today, wearing a simple short jacket on top of a simple black dress with a thick silver belt gives the look of professionalism without spending money on an expensive business suit.

Additionally, wearing A-line skirts in solid colors with a ruffled floral or print blouse and black beads is a classic for the office and the business lunch.

For the Party

The same jacket worn on top of a silky sundress with metallic or golden shoes is formal enough for a business party, yet hip enough for a casual get-together with close friends.

For outdoor summer barbecues, day or evening, wear the same sundress, comfortable-fitting sandals, topped off with a burlap beach bag tied with a colorful scarf instead of a clasp.

Finally, get creative and experiment with accessories and jewelry to accentuate styles.

When you begin to get the idea that online shopping is the best way to shop, there are a few basics to remember. Things like security of the Internet, using coupon codes and reading the fine print of the shopping offers should be considered.

Security is a big issue when using the Internet and purchasing anything from fashion clothing to simple accessories. Secure shopping is easily identified by ensuring that the checkout page starts with the “https” and not “http.” The “https” web identifier means it’s secure and you can be confident that your purchase information will remain safe.

Coupons and coupon codes are also part of the online shopping basics that you will find on places like offers.com. It is a terrific place to find the coupons and codes with the highest percentage of savings on the Internet. When you want to find seasonal fashion items, for example, simply type that into the search feature and a listing will appear of the available items from various shops, retail stores and boutiques. When you are finished with the details of the purchase, just enter the coupon code that is provided and you will be granted the discount.

Finding great online deals is easy when you shop because all of the fine print is completely visible. Just below the offer will be listed the conditions of the offer. There are categories for you to specify exactly what you are looking for and many special deals to be found there. Children and teen fashions, as well as adult and elderly styles are included in the categories, which makes it a great place for deals.

When a person is very young, their color choices tend to be brighter and more simple. They also have more of a tendency to want to display something based on association with someone they consider better than themselves. While the desire for belonging through association doesn’t go anywhere with age, it does become far more subtle, and the color scheme becomes far more subdued as a person ages. These changes are for a very good purpose.

Believe it or not, one of the principal reasons for a child’s desire for bright coloration goes beyond mere social status. There is a genuinely beneficial psychological reason for children to want to be highly visible. In our prehistoric past, if a child was too difficult to see, they would be a far more likely target for predators, as their family members would be less capable of keeping track of them. While no child today could tell you this consciously, this once-rational fear is the same reason why children often fear monsters under their beds and in their closets.

However, an adult no longer has such a need for high visibility. For adults, being muted down in their outward color scheme indicates a higher degree of personal maturity and a readiness to mate. This in turn has become a more and more deeply ingrained social custom, with only rare occasions where bright colors become popular adornments for fully grown individuals. And while the desire for a large logo or image of a particular character or other association is highly valued among most children, adults also carry their desire for subtlety through smaller, discrete brand labeling.

1995 was a good year for the Pleasant Company; that was the year they introduced little girls to their 18-inch dolls called the My American Girl.

The My American Girl doll is a unique and contemporary doll that a little girl can easily customize. This personalization allows the girl to create a doll that looks just like her with over 40 different combinations of skin tone, eye color, hair color, and hairstyle.

The personalization doesn’t stop there. It continues with a variety of special extras including glasses, braces, and even earrings. To express the little girl’s favorite activities and interests, outfits, accessories, and even designer looking doll shoes are available through specialized stores, boutiques, and online venders.

What can be more fun for a girl then not only purchasing clothing and accessories for herself, but she can find matching accessories for her doll including:

Hair ties, ribbons, and bows

Sunglasses

Jewelry

Sandals, boots, and slippers

Dresses, bathing suits, pajamas, and short sets

Doll care kits

Sleeping bags, doll totes, and backpacks

The My American Girl doll line also includes pets such as Pepper the dog, Praline the cat, and Palomino the horse with accessories.

With the popularity of the My American Girl doll, little girls everywhere are having American Girl fashion themed parties. These events include:

Fashion shows and pageants for girls and their dolls

Pajama /slumber parties

Jewelry and hair accessory making parties

The My American Girls dolls have become collectable items, but because they are made of a soft cloth body with movable head and limbs made of vinyl, little girls love to play with them.

Wearing decent clothing doesn’t have to equate with who someone is as a person, but it may help outsiders get a glimpse of what people might be like artistically, professionally or spiritually. Dressing to gain the respect of others should be on the to-do list for many occasions. People who desire a new career might have completely flawless interviewing skills and flub on the appropriate attire. This may be enough to dissuade the human resources department from filling the position. Women may have painted fingernails in soft, neutral tones. Clothing should appear the same way. Heavy perfumes or colognes should be avoided.

Weddings are deemed to be one of the initial events of independent, post-collegiate life. Attire for the bride and groom are usually somewhat standard and elegant in appearance, but it often leaves guests wondering what fashion should be worn. It’s typically acceptable for men to sport a pressed suit complete with a tie and cufflinks. Women are usually encouraged to wear skirts, dresses or slacks to such an event. Colors can vary, but if they are too bright in nature, it’s best to avoid them since attention should be paid to the new couple.

Parties entitle guests to express themselves with clothes more freely, although there are still some things to keep in mind. While it’s okay to be relaxed, it’s important not to be the bag lady’s twin. When people don’t have money and are limited to what they have, that’s one thing. We shouldn’t place judgment for it. Men or women wanting to wear button-down shirts with slacks will not be frowned upon.

Halloween is for children: this is the assumption, and seasonal fashions therefore reflect a distinctly human style.

For a true family celebration, however, some designers are now offering pet costumes. Dogs, cats, and more pets can join their owners and create holiday fun.

Consider these top 2011 choices:

The Dapper Dog

Dress your pup like the gentleman he is. The Dapper Dog features a tuxedo jacket (which fits easily across the front paws and chest), a tiny top hat, and a bow-tie. The look is dashing.

Wedded Bliss

No marriage is needed to wear a veil. Halloween is reason enough. Let your dog adorn a gown this season. This costume is unique, draping itself in front of your pet (attached by a collar against the neck) and offering white lace and a bouquet.

Cheering for Halloween

The search for candy deserves celebrating . . . and style. Allow your dog to indulge in school spirit with a cheerleading costume. It comes with an easy to pull on sweater and attached pom-poms.

Rabbit Season

Halloween is defined by surrealism, and nothing will seem more strange (or delightful) than the Bunny Costume. Give your pet the power of transformation. A pink suit stretches across the shoulders and all four paws; and two massive ears wait at the top, allowing any dog to become a rabbit for the evening.

All pet costumes can be easily found, with options available online, at speciality shops or even department stores. Compare all prices to discover your best choices and be certain to understand the size your pet needs. Fashion becomes tedious when it lacks the proper fit.

Shows like Project Runway and Bravo’s “The Fashion Show” have thrown the process of fashion designing into the spotlight. We love to see the designers crash and burn and we love to see them succeed. But we also learn from watching them. We learn how they work, how they turn their inspiration into art, and, most of all, we learn to think, “Hey…that could be me!”

For many years fashion designers have been these unknowable entities whose clothes magically showed up in stores fully formed. Not so anymore. We have been let in on the process, and we are fascinated.

You don’t need to have your own brand to design your own clothes anymore. All you need is some fabric and a vision. It is a democratic art. Suddenly that girl in class who makes her own clothesis not an object of fun—she is cool.

Mass production getting you down? Are you tired of showing up at school only to find you are wearing the exact same dress as Suzie Smith? Why not try making your own clothes? Designing your own fashion is the only way to truly express your uniqueness through what you wear.

You are never too young or too old to start designing. But where to start? Well, if you are really serious about making a career for yourself, you should try getting into fashion school. But first, play around on your own. Practice sewing. Find out what you like and how to make it. Check out fashion blogs. Or start your own!

When planning a day of shopping, it’s good to have an actual plan. Many people go out with an idea of what they want, but they aren’t sure where to go about getting it. There are plenty of big department stores and smaller boutiques, but knowing which places have the things that you want can save you a tremendous amount of time.

This is why the use of search engines, such as Canada 411, make going shopping so much easier. For instance, there are a number of ways you can find out everything you need to know about your shopping days and more. You can learn which stores have designer brands and what their inventory looks like. You can also search for stores where the merchandise is second hand. Whatever it is you are looking for it’s all in the search engine.

Another idea that makes the engine useful is that there are plenty of people who consult it for information about wedding dresses. It’s so hard to find a place that is both affordable and high quality, but by doing a simple search you can find exactly the kind of place you are looking for and it shall make shopping for that special dress easy and efficient.

The search can be broken up by keywords or even searched by category. There is nothing that you cannot do. It’s one of the reasons that the site is one of the most popular search places. So if you are looking to make your shopping headache free and fun, you might want to consider looking online before you head out for the day.

Bridal Fashion Week is an outstanding time to do some shopping and planning for a wedding. This is a great time to find out about the current trends and what is going on in the wedding industry. There are a number of current wedding trends that you may want to put stock into, including the following:

Colorful dresses instead of pure white. Consider a dress that is silver or pink, for example. Consider a white dress with colored accents, like crystal and pearl elements in bold colors for something completely different.

1920′s style inspired silhouettes are another trend that is currently sweeping the wedding fashion industry.

Sheer fabrics can be used in a myriad of ways to create completely distinct wedding gowns.

Belted gowns are also becoming popular, especially as large, thick belts are becoming all the rage in fashion.

Add color whenever you can, whether it is a diamond set alongside rubies in your engagement rings or bright blue crystals sewn into your wedding dress.

Experiment with different colors but do what feels natural to you. It is your wedding and so you ultimately must decide what works best. Do not go for what’s trendy thinking it will make you a happier bride.

These are just some of the trends surfacing in the wedding fashion industry, and there are many others to consider. Make sure that you really shop around and consider all of the options that are available to you, and do some planning and considering before you make any purchasing decisions.

When Christmastime rolls around, people start to think that loud holiday sweaters and light-up ties are the perfect gifts. More people would start to appreciate their holiday fashion gifts if the gifts were practical and something that can be worn in public. Rather than giving your uncle the lapel pin that lights up like a Christmas tree, try using these Christmas fashion gift tips to give better holiday gifts this year.

1) Ties and Scarves

Believe it or not, a nice Christmas tie can make an appreciated holiday gift. But when that tie requires batteries and sings loud Christmas carols, it becomes destined for the bottom of the closet. The same goes for a lady’s scarf. Instead of buying the novelty item that mom and dad will not wear, get something a bit more fashionable. Get a tie that has a tasteful Christmas design on it that does not have any electronic components. A dark tie with a quiet Christmas scene works best. A scarf should be colorful but not silly. Images of candy canes, Christmas trees and snowmen will work much better than elves being naughty or Santa falling off a roof.

2) Sweaters

The first rule of holiday sweaters is if the person you are buying for does not wear sweaters, then do not get him one for Christmas. The next rule is that a good Christmas sweater does not have yarn decorations or lights hanging off of it. The final rule is that any design on a Christmas sweater should be dark and unassuming. Loud designs on Christmas sweaters will find their way into storage very quickly.

3) Hats

A Christmas hat is the one fashion gift that you can get really creative with. A baseball hat with a spinning Christmas tree on it, or an elf hat that sings Christmas carols, are acceptable fashion Christmas gifts. The one piece of clothing that people do not mind having some fun with is a hat. A unique Christmas hat could be something that the recipient brings out every Christmas season for years.

If you want to get someone a Christmas fashion gift that they will appreciate, then know the basic rules of holiday fashions. Your gift will have a better chance of making an appearance next Christmas if you give something that people will appreciate.

Creating your own image is all about following your personal tastes in fashion. In some cases, your desire just to dress comfortably can lead to starting a fashion trend. Wearing a flannel shirt opened over a t-shirt is a comfortable way to dress, but it has also remained as a fashion statement. If you want to create your own look, then there are a few areas of fashion you can consider that can make you stand out and be an innovator.

1) T-Shirts

One thing that will never change is the popularity of t-shirts with sayings, patterns and designs on them. Pay attention to the sayings and trends that are starting around you, and be the first to wear it on a t-shirt. In the age of the Internet you do not have to wait for someone to create a popular t-shirt, you can make them online for yourself. Just like the popular “Have a nice day” t-shirt that features a smiley face with a bullet wound between its eyes, you can establish your own fashion trend just by watching out for the next popular t-shirt.

2) Sports Apparel

Sports apparel is becoming extremely popular for men and women. Fashion is becoming an important part of the major sports leagues, and women’s fashions are becoming especially popular. Start wearing your favorite team’s gear as part of your fashion statement. Try combinations of clothing that feature your team to help add to your look. For example, have your team’s logo on everything from your pants to your shoes. Wear your team pride and it will catch on.

3) Customization

When you take a pair of pants or a shirt and add your own touch to it, then you have created something that no one can buy. It makes your fashion statement unique and your own. Start sewing patches from other countries on your jeans, or use a fabric marker to write your favorite website addresses on your t-shirts. Make an original statement using something that you create to add to your wardrobe.

Fashion can be subjective if you want it to. You can make your own statement using fashions that are already available, or make your own statement by customizing your clothes.

As we get older, we need to pay a little more attention to how we dress. Fashion takes on a functional aspect as the needs of our bodies start to change. We can try to ignore them and keep dressing like we are in our 20’s but, eventually, that will all catch up to you. Here are some ways that you can dress to look contemporary, but still accommodate your aging body.

1) Footwear

Our feet begin to take on an added significance when we start to get into our 30’s and beyond. Start looking for comfortable footwear with a strong arch but a soft insole. Invest in the foot supports that can be placed into your shoes to help relieve back pain and make your feet more comfortable. When we age, our body starts to become more sensitive to the condition of our feet. If you have to stand for your job all day, then get boots with supports in the ankles and get new insoles every month.

2) Waist Line

Some people are able to maintain their waistlines well into their later years. But if you are losing the battle of the belt as you get older, do not let pride cause you to make bad decisions. Pants that are too tight in the waist can constrict your breathing and create problems with your lower back. Form-fitting jeans can help reduce the appearance of your waist, but if your pants are too tight then you need to move up a size.

3) Socks

This may sound a bit crazy, but plush socks can make a serious difference in the comfort of your feet when you get older. The soft socks help cushion the constant blow to your knees and back as you walk and run. This is especially helpful when you are playing with your kids at home. You never give your feet a second thought when you are chasing your kids around the house, but when you put on the soft socks you will notice a difference.

We all get older even though we would prefer not to. In order to avoid possible long-term injuries and to make life more comfortable for yourself, learn to alter your fashion preferences as you age.

Once upon a time in a world far, far away, before the time of Twiggy and gaunt, skinny, human zippers that were flaunted as supposedly attractive females, women had curves.

Not only did women have curves, these curves were actually considered attractive and necessary for propagating the human species. As strange as this sounds, it’s true. (In fact, during the Middle Ages, it was considered fashionable to look like the Virgin Mary, thus the Empire waistline was first born.) So, once upon a time, women had curves and a lot of them did not fit into a size 3 pant size.

Are you shocked yet?

Fortunately a present day and savvy rap artist named Nelly made the discovery that some modern women still had curves. At least a few did. He decided to unleash this secret to an unsuspecting world with the unheard of idea of designing a line of clothes that actually catered to curves.

So, in the summer of 2003, Nelly (along with a friend named Ian Kell and Nelly’s cousin Yomi Martin), got this crazy idea of designing a special line of fashion for, you guessed it, women with curves!

The result was a fashion line called apple bottoms for females who, in real life, had bottoms.

The creative team kicked off a spectacular campaign to find the right Apple Bottom girl gaining worldwide attention. Suddenly curvaceous women appeared from all over the world to wear clothes that actually looked good while accentuating their previously well-hidden curves. These women no longer had to keep their curves a secret. As a matter of fact, having curves may one day come back in fashion, thanks to Nelly and his liberating Apple Bottom.

It’s about time!

Heavy metal music has always had its own fashion statement. Obviously it is the bands that dictate the fashion in metal, but the fans are the ones that keep the fashions going. Let’s take a look at the popular fashion trends in heavy metal music throughout its history. We may even be able to pin down the people responsible for some of the more prominent heavy metal fashions of all time.

1) Early Years – 1970’s

When heavy metal first started to hit the forefront, bands such as Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath were popular. A little later on, groups such as Motorhead appeared. In each case, metal fashions were not very consistent. Zeppelin fans wore dark clothing with strange symbols on it, while Sabbath and Motorhead fans simply wore a pair of jeans and a dark t-shirt. Bands like Kiss and Alice Cooper came along and added clown-like make up and costumes. Metal fans suddenly found themselves dressing in black leather jackets with fringe on them and black cowboy boots.

2) Judas Priest and the Leather Revolution

Judas Priest lead singer Rob Halford is single-handedly responsible for the first real fashion trend in heavy metal. Halford decided to start wearing black leather chaps and bracelets with studs on them. Instantly, this look caught on. Soon bands, and fans, were taking the leather look to new levels. Guitarist Kerry King of Slayer created a metal bracelet with nails sticking out of it and fans started wearing leather jackets lined with rhinestones and studs. It was a fashion revolution, and it was all thanks to Rob Halford.

3) Spandex

To many metal heads, spandex is a dirty word. That skin-tight material that was being worn by 1980’s hair metal bands did not seem so heavy metal to fans. But when bands like Iron Maiden started embracing spandex, it soon spread out to the entire metal world. Spandex and hair spray became the metal wardrobe for the 1980’s and the first part of the 1990’s.

Heavy metal comes with its own music and its own fashions. As the bands change their look, so do the fans. With such a loyal fan base, it is no wonder that heavy metal fashions tend to catch on so quickly.

You can always look to television and movies to inspire the fashion trends for the coming year. When the first “Twilight” movie came out, many teenagers started dressing in button-down shirts and all dark clothing. It helped to make the “goth” look more accessible. A look at the more influential movies in the past that have created their own fashion trend can help us to see future fashion statements coming. Here is a list of a few movies that sparked a whole new way of dressing. Maybe we can see the fashions coming if we learn to recognize the trends of the past.

1) “Clerks” (1994)

When the first “Clerks” movie came out in 1994, the characters of Jay, Silent Bob and Randal all wore the backwards baseball hats and open flannel shirts over a t-shirt. It was a subtle suggestion by a decently popular movie, but it is a fashion statement that took off on college campuses all over the United States. It pulled college students out of the new wave era of strange haircuts and flipped up collars into the grunge fashion phase.

2) “Desperately Seeking Susan” (1985)

By the time Madonna hit the big screen with “Desperately Seeking Susan” in 1985, her fashion statement of a ballet dress, dark paisley jacket and big jewelry was already catching on. When the movie took off, so did the fashion.

3) “Rebel Without a Cause” (1955)

This movie is the genesis of the 1950’s teenage fashion statement of a white t-shirt under a dark jacket. James Dean’s jacket was not a leather jacket; it would take Marlon Brando to add the leather. But this movie wound up being so influential that it sparked a fashion trend that is still used decades after its release.

4) “Purple Rain” (1984)

Prince’s look of a white ruffled shirt under a shimmering purple jacket was so popular that it even made its way to the “Seinfeld” sitcom. This was the male version of the “Desperately Seeking Susan” fashion trend and, just like the “Clerks” look that came after it, this was very popular on college campuses around the country.

Movies and television have a huge influence on fashion. The next time you see a movie and wonder why someone would wear those fashions, remember that you may be seeing the next big fashion trend.

Have you wanted to get that new pair of dancing shoes? How about that perfect accessory that you have had your eyes on – whether it is in the store or on the Internet? While most have desired to head to the store for that next fashion piece, it isn’t always feasible.

For some people that don’t have a credit card, there are options available. It is actually preferable for many not to use a credit card. Not only can you overspend when you shop with a credit card, but you can hurt your long-term finances with the interest charges that will accrue.

The Reach Card is a prepaid credit card that can eliminate any thoughts of needing a credit card. You don’t even need to have a checking account to use it. It is a safe and secure way to shop, perfect for shopping online or at your favorite mall.

The card is used just as you would a checking account, and it can be set up without one, if preferable. You can transfer money to the prepaid credit card that you would like to spend. This is perfect not only for supporting your shopping habit, but budgeting it, as well. For individuals with or without a credit card, a Reach Card is a great option.

With no liability on the prepaid credit card, you can shop securely online and in the stores. You also can’t overlook how safe the Reach Card is on your finances, as you are only spending the money that you transfer, and not what is linked to your credit.

Consider the prepaid credit card to help you shop for fashion. Typical credit cards can overextend your finances and give you high interest rates. With or without a checking account, you can be on your way to shopping online and in the stores safely and easily.

Golf is becoming an extremely popular pastime for people of all ages, races and backgrounds. Part of the popularity in golf is in the fashions that people are starting to wear on the golf course. As younger professionals such as Anthony Kim and Rickie Fowler continue to push the envelope of golf fashion, the casual weekend golfer is getting caught up in the trend as well. There are some pointers that every golfer should take when it comes to buying the right golf fashions.

1) Shop at your local golf pro shop, because that is where the new fashions are located. The fashion designers that are breaking down barriers in golf clothing are going right to their target audience and putting their fashions in pro shops and golf stores all over the country. When you are looking for golf fashions, do not head towards your favorite clothing or department store. Instead, visit a golf pro shop or golf equipment store in your area.

2) The newest trend in golf fashions is bright colors and a lot of them. You can go two ways with the colors in your golf clothing. You can buy an outfit with one bright color, or you can buy an outfit that features many different bright colors. Rickie Fowler became famous for his bright orange fashions, and Anthony Kim is not afraid to wear the bright colors that just do not seem to go together.

3) Solid blocks of color are in, and multiple patterns are out. The best way to envision the newest golf fashions is to picture colorful square blocks with no patterns on them making up the clothing. The days of plaid golf pants and shirts with wild designs on them seem to be over, for now.

It can be fun to get involved in the latest golf fashions, and wearing the bright colors can help you enjoy the game more. Check out what your pro shop has to offer before you step into that first tee box.

Teen role models have always set the trend for how teens dress. It seems like there is someone for them to emulate in every era. In the 80′s, it was Madonna. The 90′s saw Britney Spears rise in ascendancy. And the first decade of the 21st century saw Hannah Montana bring her own fashion sense to teens. But while Madonna gave a style for teens to emulate, she never had a clothing line for teens to buy. Then along came Hannah.

Hannah Montana, nee Miley Cyrus, joined up with Max Azria to create a line of clothing that is found at Walmart. Very stylish with lots of glitz, the clothes are priced at levels that are accessible to her teen fans. The clothing range covers everything from t-shirts to bathing suits, leaving almost no clothing item untouched. The key to the success of the line is that it was initiated while the TV series was still ongoing, keeping the character fresh in the eyes of her fans.

Britney Spears recently released a line of teen clothing through Candies, available at Kohl’s. The success of her line is questionable as she no longer appeals to the teens. All of her fans have grown up with her and are long past the teen years. Instead of trying to trade on her prior fame as a teen idol, she should have aimed towards fans that are closer to her age.

As one teen star fades, another will rise to take their place. Never fear, Disney is already busy creating a fashion line for their next up and coming starlet.

Styles come and go, and accessories are no exception. But the hobo bag seems to resist fading into obscurity. They come in a wide variety of sizes, ranging from the mini to the jumbo, with the jumbo being the traditional style. The bag itself is defined by being large, somewhat shapeless, and worn over the shoulder. Sometimes they have a zipper that goes all the way across the top, sometimes they have only a snap to hold in the contents. Designers in all price points have put their stamp on this traditional style, giving the consumer limitless choices.

Say the name, hobo bag, and most will think of a plain or leather sack. No longer does that hold true as the designers have gone crazy with adding on the extras. The 1970′s are back in style, so expect to see plenty of fringe used, reinterpreted with a modern flair. Go feminine with ruffles or hardcore with plenty of studs. Straps and handles can be made from the same material as the body, or come with chain to connect it to a leather handle. Or maybe a ruched body with a zippered top made in plain black leather for quiet understatement.

Finding somewhere to buy a bag is easy. Anyplace that sells handbags will have hobo bags on tap. Expect to spend anywhere from $20 and up for one, depending on individual criteria for a hobo. Pick something conservative made from quality leather to span the years, or spend a few dollars less on a lower quality but highly fashionable bag for self-expression. A hobo bag will never go out of style, no matter what the styling.

There are several rules of fashion that are pounded into our heads so often we are almost terrified to try to correct or change them. However, like any rules, fashion rules are made to be broken. Still, even when breaking the rules, there is always a right and a wrong way to break a fashion rule.

One of the most commonly quoted rules is that you cannot wear white after Labor Day. Given that Labor Day is somewhere in the fall, and supposedly you are not allowed to white again until spring collections start to make their appearance somewhere in April. That is a very long time to outlaw one particular color. And, if you think about it, what the rule really means is that you are not supposed to wear large amounts of white, like white pants or a white dress. Which seems even more ridiculous as now we are discriminating against certain garments. Wearing white during the winter, when done correctly cannot only be stylish but beautiful. Wearing a white trench coat will make a statement and look stunning against a snowy backdrop. You could also wear a white sweater dress in the winter. Not only will you look fabulous, but you will stand out and prove that the rule is silly and should be broken.

Another rule that we hear all the time is to not wear brown with black. What the rule really means is to not wear dark brown with black, as we wear khaki with black all the time and no one ever says not to. Also, if you were to really think about it there are several animals that have a black and white spots in nature. Therefore, it is perfectly acceptable to wear black and brown together as long as you do it in the right way. When wearing the colors together make sure that it looks like you are doing it with purpose. Wear a brown vest with a black top or wear a great brown belt with a black blouse.

There are many reasons that people want to make the changes to a live more economic lifestyle. Many people are interesting in saving the environment and ensuring that they are purchasing the healthiest and more natural items for their families. Many people do not think about purchasing cloth items made with organic material as a way of going green but organic cotton is a great way help the environment and purchase a great product.

Buying items made with organic cotton can make a huge impact on your green footprint because there is cotton in almost everything that you use. From the clothing you wear to the towels you use, even the diapers and feminine products that line your cupboards are made of cotton.

Cotton is used to produce more products than any other material. However, with the production or cotton come growers using pesticides, fungicides, and insecticides, which are all known carcinogens. Even if these carcinogens are only being used for the cotton, they are likely to spread farther and pollute large amounts of land and water. Luckily, there is a choice to not buying products that are made this way and that is to buy organic cotton products. When you chose to buy products that are made organically you are ensuring that nothing that can harm you or the environment was used in the making of the product.

If you stop to think about the damage that all those chemicals are doing to the environment you are likely to stop using products made that way, but people rarely stop to think what those chemicals are doing to themselves. Cotton products are either used very close to the body are used to against the body. We are placing those chemicals next to our skin. The same cotton that was sprayed with those chemicals is now touching your bare skin or touching the skin or your infant. Thinking about that makes a great many people switch to organically grown cotton.

There are times in every season when you wish that the weather would just halt and your could change into something that you would wear in a different time of year. Fortunately, there are several trends that can take you year around if you just know so tricks.

If you live somewhere where it snows then you know how frustrating it can be to wear snow boots for months on end. There are times when you just want to put on a cute pair of pumps and a skirt or dress and say goodbye to bulky winter sweaters and shoes. If this is the case, then there is a very sneaky way that you can make sure that your feet stay dry while still being able to wear your pumps. From your home to your car and from the car to the office, wear your snow boots and brave the snow. Once inside the comfort of your office, replace your snow boots with a cute pair of pumps.

If you are so tired of wearing dull and drab colors through the winter and you want to add some color back into your wardrobe then you can always add a pop of color. It might look a little strange if you were to show up to work in the middle of winter wearing a hot pink dress, but it would be perfectly acceptable to wear a pink accessory like a belt or undershirt. The same blah color might get tiring as you wear it for the entire duration or color, so find ways to add it into your wardrobe. Add a color cami under a winter sweater, wear a shiny pair of red pumps, or sport a colorful clutch.

If you are more interested in wearing a beloved sweater during the warmer months, make sure that you pair it with something that is more summer so that you not make people think that you have the flu and are trying to say warm. Pair a flirty skirt with a long sleeve cardigan or match a cute dress with a soft sweater.

When you become a mother the last thing that you are usually thinking about is the way that your look and the clothes that you are wearing. As my friends with young children have pointed out to me, you will end up with spit up and food all over you before the morning is even out. However, as your children get older and are more independent, parents, especially mothers seem to be stuck in the same phase of fashion that they were when their children came home from the hospital.

There are several reasons why you should decide to take off the sweats and rejoin the world of clothing wearing adults. One of the most important reasons is that you will feel better about yourself. Studies have shown that when you feel good about the clothes that you are wearing you are more likely to feel good about yourself. For this

There is nothing more heartwrenching as a childcare provider than watching a child freeze outside because they do not have the apporpriate coat for a cold day. It is also just as difficult to watch a child get over heated simply because they are wearing something to warm for a hot day. Just like us, children need to be dressed appropriately for whatever the weather; therefore, you need to make sure that when your child leaves the house they are wearing something that is appopriate.

When you are not sure what the weather will be like on any given day, it is best that you dress your child in layers. There are several news stations that do morning updates. It is really quite easy to check in with the station and make sure that you and your child are dressed the same way. With technology, there are several ways that you can ensure that you recieve a morning update about the weather. Bookmark a weather station on your phone, have a weather station placed on your computer everyday.

Many parents forget that their children get warm and cool just like they do because children are so resillent. However, they are subjec to the same weather related concerns that we are. Dress them in layers so that they can remove the layers if they get warm or add them if they get colder.

The way to do this is to start with a tshirt. Layer on a light sweater and finish with a jacket. If the weather looks like it is going to rain or snow put them in appropriate shoes

There comes a time in every child’s life when they want to start dressing themselves. Unfortunately, fashion rules and fashion dos and don’ts are learned with time and experience, both of which your child will not have. However, even if your child looks ridiculous when they dress themselves there are several reason why you should let them.

First of all, children start wanting to dress themselves at an early age. They want to feel independent and use their creativity. If you are constantly telling them that they are not dressed appropriately then you are not only working to break down their independence but you are working to kill their creative spirit. While you may think that your child looks silly and embarrassing in stripes and a cape, your child thinks that they look wonderful.

Second, children feel pride in the fact that they can something for themselves. Everything that a child learns in their life is a way to establish independence from their parents. They learn to feed themselves, use the bathroom, read and write, all as a way to gain their independence. Dressing themselves is just another way for them to become more independent and they are excited to learn new things. Many times, children are so excited about their new found independence they will tell everyone they know that they dressed themselves. Therefore, you should not be embarrassed that other people think that you put your child in those hideous outfits.

Finally, every person who works with children or who has had children themselves, known that this is a stage that every child goes through. While you may think that your child wearing something that doesn’t match is embarressing and a sign that you are a bad parents, other people just see it as a cute child wearing a cute outfit. They will also learn fashion rules with time.

Every parent fears that there will come a time when their teenager will want to dress more provocatively or will want to dress in a way that their parent does not deem fit. What parents fear the most is that they will be constantly at war with their teenagers over their choice of clothing. Rather than wage war with your children every time they come down to the breakfast table, there are several things that you can do to ensure that your teen can still dress the way that they want and you can feel comfortable letting them leave the house.

If your teenager is dressing sexier than you would like them to, you are probably wondering just what else they are doing in their sexier clothing. The most important thing to remember about the teenager years is that your teenager is starting to come to terms with their sexuality. While they may be revealing more than you would like them to reveal, that is no reason to assume that they are acting promiscuous as well. Talk to your teen about why they feel the need to dress so sexually. In many cases, they are just trying to get noticed by the opposite sex. Help them to see that they is a way for them to get noticed without revealing all their assets. Show that the most sexiest assets of all is confidence.

If your teen is dressing in a way that you do not like then you need to speak with them about why they are dressing that way. Do they feel like they need to dress this way to fit in, or are they trying to make a statement about they way that they feel? The best thing that you can do is work to understand what your teen is going through as they try to figure out who they are.
